School Expectations

Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS)

Discovery Elementary School implements a school-wide Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports plan (PBIS). The PBIS system uses student expectations and preventative disciplines to guide students toward positive behaviors. Discovery students focus the following Be Rules as expectations: 1) Be Safe 2) Be Respectful 3) Be Responsible.

Discovery Expectations

As a part of the PBIS plan, Discovery has set high and clear expectations for students throughout the campus. Students are familiar with these expectations as they are posted around the campus and communicated within their classrooms. In addition, Discovery staff uses the common expectation language with students (Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible) to remind students of the appropriate behaviors. Students are conversed on the Discovery Elementary School Behavior Expectations Matrix. The school has developed a schoolwide positive incentive system to reward and support positive behaviors. When needed, the school will implement Tiered interventions to support behavior. These supports can include Check-In and/or Check-Outs (CICO) with school staff and administrators, behavior plans, incentive plans, and more. We have a committment to a postive school environment!
