Bullying

The San Marcos Unified School District is committed to maintaining a learning environment that is free from bullying, harassment, intimidation, and discrimination. The staff and teachers at Discovery Elementary take all incidents involving bullying on our campus seriously. Bullying is defined as “the intentional and repeated acts of a threatening or demeaning nature that occur through direct verbal (e.g., threatening, name calling), direct physical (e.g., hitting, kicking), and indirect (e.g. spreading rumors, influencing relationships, cyberbullying) means that typically occur in situations in which there is a power or status difference”. Parents and students are encouraged to report all alleged incidents to the student’s teacher or school administrators when they occur. As part of the Safe Place to Learn Act, our school is committed to reducing acts of discrimination, harassment, violence, intimidation and bullying. Further policies and information can be found in the San Marcos Unified School District Board Policy 5131.2 for Bullying.
