About Mrs. Peña

 Mrs. Pena
Hello Discovery Students and Families!
I am so excited to be able to welcome all of our wonderful Discovery Explorers to our beautiful library. It is my favorite place on campus and I hope it will become yours too!  Please make sure to come visit me often! You know I love to see you all!!

For those of you who do not know me yet, my name is Marion Peña. I have been employed at Discovery Elementary since 2016 and worked as an Instructional Aide in the classroom prior to working in the library. I was honored in 2022 to be able to transfer to the library and become your new Library Media Technician. It is honestly a dream come true for me and I absolutely love it!

I am originally from the Netherlands. I moved to San Diego in 1991 to go to school. I speak Dutch and English (of course) but also studied Spanish, French and German for many years. I am married with two boys, ages 19 and 20. Both my sons go to Palomar College and are majoring in Bio Chemistry and Graphic Design. My husband teaches Spanish at Mission Hills High School (Go Grizzlies!) as well as ESL at Palomar College in the evenings. I love reading (of course), gardening, traveling, coloring AND learning! I graduated with my Library and Information Technology degree from Palomar College in May 2023 and am currently studying History. My philosophy is "You are never too old to learn". My goal is to always create a fun and safe place for your children to spend some time. Students can enjoy our beautiful reading room and we even have a seating area on what I like to call our "Library Lawn". Make sure you come visit me soon!  Here is to another wonderful school year! I can't wait!
